Service - Repair

Remote diagnosis

Our experienced team at SOS-Elektronik and our partners are always available to provide you with advice and assistance. Whether by phone, email, or video conference, we provide you with fast and reliable support in troubleshooting and work with you to find the best solution.

Repair at the customer's premises

If a solution cannot be found via remote fault diagnosis, we will send a qualified technician to your premises as soon as possible to locate the cause of the fault and carry out the repair, ideally with the necessary spare parts and, of course, with the appropriate attention to travel costs.

Repair at our premises

If on-site repair is not possible, we offer the option of refurbishing (general overhaul) or repairing components at our premises.

This generally involves replacing wear parts such as fans, batteries, etc. Depending on their age, capacitors, hard drives, and other components that are subject to aging are replaced.

If necessary, we and our customers have access to a very large stock of used control and drive spare parts, which usually ensures an adequate replacement for the defective assembly.

Overhaul and refurbishment

Many machine tools from the late 1990s and 2000s have been operating reliably for years in two or even three shifts – often around the clock, 24/7/365. That means 8,000 to 9,000 operating hours per year and around 100,000 hours on the clock after 10 to 15 years.

During this time, often only mechanical components are replaced to ensure precision. However, many other components that are crucial for reliability and operational safety are easily overlooked.

This is exactly where SOS-Elektronik comes in: We offer you a comprehensive overhaul and refurbishment service that brings your machines back up to date. Our machine overhauls are carried out in different stages – individually tailored to the condition of your machine and your budget.

Recabling of all movable cables

We take care of the complete rewiring of all movable cables from the control cabinet to the machine room in order to reliably prevent failures and damage caused by cable breaks or short circuits.
Our rewiring is not only suitable as a preventive measure, but also as a remedy after specific incidents — for example, after a short circuit or small fire, when switching from water emulsion to oil, or when switching from one type of oil to another, which often leads to gradual “degradation” of the cables.

Overhaul of the pneumatic system

On request, we can not only rewire your machine, but also carry out a comprehensive overhaul of the pneumatic lines. All lines are carefully checked, worn components are replaced, and the system is brought up to date. This creates a completely renewed and operationally safe machine environment that reduces downtime, extends the service life of your machine, and noticeably increases reliability in daily operation.

Overhaul of drives and control systems

The controls and drives of many machines from the 1990s and 2000s are exposed to heavy loads over time. Fans, batteries, rechargeable batteries, hard drives, and other components age due to heat, dust, and the harsh production environment—often without this being directly visible.

We professionally refurbish these components, thoroughly clean controls and drives of dust, oil, and deposits, thereby significantly increasing the operational reliability and service life of your machines. If necessary, we also take care of suitable switch cabinet air conditioning – because failures or operation with open switch cabinet doors are often the cause of many technical problems.

Overhaul

Do you have several machines of the same model but with different years of manufacture or different hardware and software?
Are your machines so firmly integrated into your production processes that it is out of the question to do without them?
Do you need an additional machine of the same design to reinforce your capacity, with identical mountings, drive, control system, and software?
Or are you so attached to your machine that selling or scrapping it is not an option?

For precisely such cases, SOS-Elektronik offers a complete overhaul of your machines. Depending on the process-related and logistical possibilities, there are two options to choose from:

Overhaul at the customer's premises

If it is not possible to transport your machine to Wasserburg am Bodensee, our experienced team will come directly to you. A mechanic usually works on site for around two weeks and an electrician for around one week to replace all moving parts and bring the machine up to date both mechanically and electrically.

On request, we also offer a “product overhaul” of the drives – including controllers, motors, and measuring systems – as well as the control systems (hardware and software). This brings your machine up to the latest technical standard and ensures that it will be ready for reliable use in your production for many years to come.

Overhaul at our premises

If it is possible to transport your machine to SOS-Elektronik in Wasserburg, we go one step further: the machine is completely dismantled, thoroughly cleaned, sandblasted, and recoated. In combination with the services of the general overhaul on site (option 1), the machine not only looks “like new”—it actually is. Only the cast iron stand and the outer housing retain their original age.

The complete disassembly and reassembly results in a “settled, relaxed” casting that increases the stability and precision of your machine. If necessary, critical components are freshly scraped and replaced with the latest precision-manufactured parts. The result: your machine not only looks like new, but also works more precisely and stably than in its original condition.

Conversions and upgrades

Would you like to modernize your machines, make them more efficient, or adapt them to new requirements? We specialize in converting and upgrading existing machines and have already provided many customers with customized solutions to significantly increase performance, efficiency, and productivity.

Our services include:

  • Retrofitting loading systems to existing machines without automatic loading systems
  • Integration of robots for loading and unloading tools or grinding wheels
  • Retrofitting hollow shaft drives for the tool carrier
  • Upgrading with oil-cooled grinding motors to increase performance
  • Customization of customer-specific clamping systems to suit your processes

With our retrofits and upgrades, we make your machines fit for higher productivity and long service life – tailor-made and future-proof.
